Newton Lives! - 4 stars - November 4, 2009
I have been a long time fan of handwriting recognition on my PDA. I used a Newton for a decade and finally gave it up for my iPod Touch just last year. I have missed this feature ever since. This app fills the gap. It isn't as accurate as the last version of the Newton OS but it will hopefully improve as it learns my writing style. I wish there were the ability to write, save it as handwriting and then translate it to text later. There is a bit of a challenge learning the gestures and other not so obvious features but I love having WritePad on my Touch.
Does what it says... but crashes sometimes... - 4 stars - November 2, 2009
I find it hard to rate this app as it is absolutely a life saver in terms of being able to replace a stylus. I was a Palm T3 user and really wanted the ipod touch to do everything Palm could and MORE. As an avid blogger, being able to touch with lightning speed on a small keyboard is my life dream (if I could with an Iphone, I'd have bought one, AT&T or not!). Anyway, being able to quickly write notes is just fantastic, being able to write letters over top of each other to finish spelling a word is fantastic. Sometimes the spelling recognition is a bit of a pain and erasing can be counter intuitive. And the GUI could stand some sexier icons, but man. It really does what I need in terms of being able to write as fast as I think and if i could send it directly to my blog I'd be over the moon. Absolutely brillant for free. A real lifesaver. Also hate the way you get new document. I would give it 3.5 stars instead of 4.
Thumbs up! - 5 stars - October 26, 2009
Or, I should say, finger to touch screen! Just use a finger to write in big letters. I saw this in Presbyterians Today magazine; it was used to communicate with a deaf person. Too cool!
This app is pretty cool. - 5 stars - October 21, 2009
Takes some time getting used but pretty cool for free. Thanks
Coolest app ever! Very handy!!! - 4 stars - October 19, 2009
I was a little skeptical at first but this app does wonders! It is not hard to write on and the system learns as you write!
